Three-week hospital road closure to begin
Roadworks scheduled to take place outside a busy hospital for the next three weeks are due to begin.
The latest improvement works outside the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) will close off Colney Lane East, leading from Round House Way in Cringleford, until 27 January.
Other arms of the roundabout will remain open to allow access to the hospital.
Drivers have been warned of delays and encouraged to allow extra time for journeys.
Other routes around the hospital will close between 20:00 and 06:00 from 27 to 31 January.
A different road would shut each night ensuring access to the site, the hospital said.
What roads will be open?
Alternative access to the hospital and Norwich Research Park during the closure will be via Hethersett Lane and Rosalind Franklin Road, which provides a direct route to the multi-storey car park and the hospital access road.
Access to the research park will be available from Watton Road at the crossroads on Colney Lane.
Bus service diversions are also due to be in place.
Services to and from the Cringleford Bus Interchange are due to be diverted along the A47 and Watton Road.
What are the improvements?
The first phase of the improvement scheme began in September and is expected to be completed by early March.
The changes include improving pedestrian and cycle access to the hospital and nearby research park, as well as installing a new toucan crossing.
Bullen Developments is leading the development project of the research park which includes the roadworks, in partnership with Norfolk County Council and South Norfolk Council.
