The timetable of ferry services between Jersey and France has been published by DFDS - the firm taking over sailings from the island from March.

It said it would be running a fast ferry service to the country, with inter-island services still yet to be announced.

The company published details of its main route between the island and the UK last week.

The Tarifa Jet, a high speed ferry with room for 700 people and 175 cars, is set to operate five days a week until May when it is due to move to daily services.

The firm said islanders would be able to book services from 31 January.

Route director Chris Parker said: "These schedules emphasise our commitment to providing a dependable and efficient service for all travellers, with the options for day trips or longer holidays.

"We will continue to enhance our services over the coming months to ensure we are best serving the island."

'Improved connectivity'

Danish operator DFDS was awarded a 20-year contract to operate Jersey's ferry services following a tender process that ended Condor's 60-year relationship with the island.

Deputy Kirsten Morel, Jersey's Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, said the new timetable would provide strong links to France.

He said: "I am excited about the opportunities that our new partnership with DFDS will bring - improved connectivity to France should be of benefit to us all.

"Our social, cultural and economic relationships with Brittany and Normandy are of great value and this schedule will allow us to strengthen those ties."
