One of the island's private colleges has been given a glowing report by the UK's watchdog for independent schools.

The Independent School Standards (ISI) inspection found Blanchelande College met the new five-point criteria of the British Schools Overseas Standards.

The report findings highlighted the vision of the school's leadership team and said it had a "strong Catholic ethos" as well as a "supportive, respectful environment" which promotes emotional and mental wellbeing.

Principal Alexa Yeoman said she was "delighted" with the results and she praised the "outstanding commitment" of staff at the college.

"Their dedication and passion are evident throughout this report and I am also thankful to our parents for their continued support," she said.

"Our exceptional pupils truly embody our school's mission of being 'part of a family, one of a kind' that celebrates individual learning alongside a collaborative and respectful environment."
