A village library will be closed for about three months in the new year to allow for refurbishment to be carried out.

The library in Yaxley, near Peterborough, will shut on 6 January 2025 for about 13 weeks, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Cambridgeshire County Council said all borrowed items would have their return dates extended until the library reopened.

During the closure, bookworms will able to use a mobile facility which will visit the village each month or the library at Sawtry Community Centre.

The library van will be based in the Austin Hall car park between 10:00 and 15:00 GMT on 18 January, 15 February and 15 March.

Sawtry Library is open between 15:00 and 19:00 GMT on Tuesdays, 10:00 until 13:00 GMT and 14:00 GMT until 17:00 GMT on Wednesdays, between 15:00 and 17:00 GMT on Fridays and from 09:30 until 12:30 GMT on Saturdays.

It is closed on bank holidays.
