County's most loaned library book of 2024 revealed
Prince Harry's book was the most borrowed biography at libraries in Hertfordshire this year.
The memoir became the fastest selling non-fiction book of all time when it was published in January 2023.
Spare ranked above Rory Stewart and Adam Kay to top the biography category, according to information from the county council.
It said nearly 3.8 million loans of physical items had been made from its 46 libraries so far in 2024, but did not reveal the number of times individual titles were loaned.
Data supplied to the Local Democracy Reporting Service revealed the most popular adult fiction book so far this year was Richard Osman's The Last Devil to Die.
The Official DVSA Theory Test for Car Drivers was the most loaned non-fiction book.
The statistics also showed there had been nearly 1.8 million digital loans made so far in 2024, in addition to physical loans.
Library events were attended by 180,000 people, including 95,500 at baby rhyme time sessions.
A spokesperson for the council said it was "pleased to see so many people" enjoying its library service, which celebrates its centenary next year.
