New cycling routes are being suggested across the island

Isle of Wight Council is looking for feedback on potential new walking and cycling routes for 2025.

The authority has released new route suggestions for residents and local groups to comment on.

The new plans have been set out in a bid to enhance cycling and walking routes across the island.

Areas covered by the proposed initiative include Bay Area, Bembridge and Cowes.

The new routes are part of Supplemntary Planning Documents (SPD) within the Island Plan.

They have been developed in collaboration with local communities, parish and town councils.

The plans outline priority improvements across the island, including Brading, St Helens, Northwood, Gurnard, East Cowes and Whippingham.

In a statement, councillor Paul Fuller said: "The local communities in these areas have put a great deal of effort into helping inform these fantastic plans.

"By adopting them as SPDs, we can ensure that new developments contribute to excellent sustainable transport projects."

Consultations on the initiatives will be open until 17:00 GMT on Friday 17 January.
