Council lottery offers 'year of adventure' prize

A council-run community lottery is offering ticket holders the chance to win "a year of adventures".

It is the latest special draw from South Kesteven District Council's community lottery – which has raised almost £327,000 for local causes in the last six years.

The prize includes a family railcard and Merlin annual pass for free access to some of the UK's best-known attractions, an annual family membership for English Heritage, the National Trust, or £1,000 in cash for £1 a week.

The super draw closes on Saturday 22 February.

Councillor Paul Stokes, deputy leader, said: "Our lottery delivers much-needed income for charities and community groups across the district.

"It's simple to register and it's very rewarding to see what a difference it's making to community life."

Good causes receive 60p from each £1 lottery ticket and a weekly draw offers the chance to win £25,000.

The lottery features a general good causes fund, which is used to support a wide range of local organisations and community initiatives, along with a number of specific groups.

These include the Thorold Arms community group in Marston and Men in Sheds in the Deepings.

The former pub was bought through community shares and re-opened in 2019.

Men in Sheds members are mostly retired and use their skills, including carpentry and electrics, to tackle community projects.

Both groups help to support community life and combat social isolation.

Other causes include local sports clubs, Dementia Support South Lincs and Grantham Autistic Information Network.
