'We're rehoming more dogs due to cost of living'
Luke Deal/BBCMore dogs are having to be rehomed due to the cost of living crisis, a rehoming charity founder has said.
Jules Norman, from Suffolk, founded the Labrador UK Action Group in 2014, which rescues and rehomes the breed across the UK.
It is run by a group of volunteers who rehome the dogs from owner to owner without the use of kennels.
Ms Norman said when they started they were averaging one to two Labradors a week, and now it was three a week.
"At the moment we are working 24/7 outside our normal jobs, which we all have," she said.
"We all work full time, we've all got families with children so it's a lot to take on, but it's for the love of Labradors that we do it."
Luke Deal/BBCThe charity has branches in Suffolk, covering East Anglia, as well as others in Scotland, Wales and the south of England.
Ms Norman said Labradors were a very popular breed, but required a lot of training as puppies.
"It's just unbelievable how many we're having to help at the moment," she continued.
"It is the cost of living, they literally have no money to look after the dog."
'Match them perfectly'
Ms Norman said owners often had other reasons for requesting a rehoming including changes in family circumstances and family bereavements.
"Every Labrador that we get in has a different personality and we suit the home and find the homes to match them perfectly... we don't just pick on a first come, first serve basis," Ms Norman added.
