Residents are being encouraged to have their waste and recycling ready at the kerbside earlier in the morning due to the hot weather.

Swindon Borough Council said residents could help crews by putting their rubbish out by 06:00 BST until 20 July. The normal advice is to have it ready by 06:30 BST.

"This will allow our crews to complete the majority of the work in the coolest part of the day," the council said.

It comes as a heatwave is set to hit the UK, with temperatures expected to peak at 33C (91F) in England over the weekend, with very warm or hot weather also likely to affect Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland.

High or very high UV and pollen levels are also predicted.
