A 59-year-old man has been jailed for child sex offences.

Anthony Farr, of Southend Road in Bradfield Southend, Berkshire, was found guilty of one count of sexual assault of a child under 13 by penetration and one count of inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

He was found not guilty of a second count of sexual assault of a child under 13 by penetration.

He was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

He was also issued with a 15-year sexual harm prevention order, and the judge ordered for him to be on the sex offenders register for life.

Investigating officer Det Con Adele Shaw said: "I would like to commend the victim in this case for her strength and bravery in reporting this despicable sexual abuse to police.

"This case shows that we will always seek to support child sexual offence victims and protect the public by bringing their abusers to justice."
