Traffic restrictions on a road to a primary school at pick-up and drop-off times are set to continue.

A trial for the so-called School Street on St Adrians Close, Maidenhead, Berkshire, for Wessex Primary School started in the summer.

The Royal Borough of Windsor & Maidenhead said after "overwhelming" support from parents and residents the scheme would continue.

Currently run by volunteers, the authority said a new number plate recognition camera would be installed in the spring to manage traffic funded by an Active Travel grant.

The authority said since the scheme started "far more parents and pupils were walking and wheeling" to and from the school.

It added the school was the first in the borough to bring in the restrictions and it hoped to extend the scheme to other schools across Windsor and Maidenhead.
