Heritage trust appoints new chair of trustees
An ecologist and heritage enthusiast has been appointed as the new chair of the board of trustees of Jersey Heritage Trust, which promotes and preserves the island's history.
Amy Hall is stepping up from her role as vice-chair of the board following the death last year of the previous chair Simon Boas.
She is the director of research and training at Sangan Island, where she is an expert in small mammals and bats.
She said: "Taking over the role of chair from Simon is bittersweet. He is greatly missed as chair, and as a friend. I only hope I can be as good in the role as he was."
'Inspirational guardian'
Her appointment comes as the trust is inviting would be trustees to come to an information event at Jersey Museum at 17:30 GMT on Wednesday 12 February.
She said: "We are looking for people who share our vision for Jersey Heritage Trust to be an inspirational guardian and champion of our island's rich and varied history.
"This is an exciting opportunity for anyone who is passionate about Jersey's heritage and, ideally, they will have governance experience and skills that will add value to our board."
The position of trustee is a voluntary role and they are initially appointed for a period of three years.
The role involved ensuring high standards of governance, establishing the trust's strategic direction and ensuring the proper use of public funds given by the States of Jersey, said the trust.
Dr Hall joined Jersey Heritage Trust as a trustee in 2020 and has worked for the National Trust for Jersey and Jersey Heritage, where she catalogued the charity's natural history collection, as well as with collections held by the Société Jersiaise.
