Suspected prison murder victim is named
A man who was found dead at a prison has been named.
The Prisons and Probation Ombudsman said the inmate who died suddenly at HMP Five Wells in Wellingborough on 10 December was 49-year-old Kevin Golby.
Northamptonshire Police launched a murder investigation after attending the prison the following day.
A 20-year-old inmate was arrested on suspicion of murder but has since been released on police bail.
Detectives said further investigation was required after results of a post-mortem examination proved inconclusive.
Det Ch Insp Johnny Campbell described the death as a "tragic incident".
HMP Five Wells is a category C prison run by security firm G4S.
It cost £253m to build. It opened in 2022 and houses about 1,700 inmates.
