Two people killed and two others injured in crash

Two people have been killed in a car crash near a Somerset village on Sunday afternoon.

The collision happened on the A361 near Cranmore, Shepton Mallet, at about 15.50 GMT.

The deceased were both travelling in the same vehicle, Avon and Somerset Police said, and their next-of-kin have been traced.

Two people from the second car were taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses, or those with dashcam and other relevant footage, to contact them.

The A361, which was closed throughout Sunday, has now re-opened.
