Pedestrians hit by cars in Cavan and Donegal die
Two pedestrians have died after separate road incidents in the Republic of Ireland.
A man, aged in his 40s, died after he was struck by a car in County Cavan on Saturday night.
The driver of the car, a man aged in his 20s, was uninjured.
Meanwhile on Sunday, An Garda Síochána (Irish police) confirmed a woman in her 80s, seriously injured after being hit by a car on Tuesday in Buncrana, County Donegal, had died in hospital.
The incident in County Cavan occurred on the N54 at Plush, Cloverhill at about 22:45 local time.
The road was closed pending a technical examination on Sunday morning with diversions in place.
The Buncrana incident, which involved two pedestrians and a car, occurred at the junction of Lower Main Street and St Orans Road at about 14:20 on Tuesday.
Police are appealing for any witnesses, of both collisions, to come forward.
