Nottinghamshire Police were called to New Mill Lane on Saturday night

Police are appealing for information after a two-vehicle crash left five people in hospital.

Emergency services were called to New Mill Lane in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, at 22:45 BST on Saturday after reports of a collision between a Renault Laguna car and a Vauxhall Movano van.

The driver of the car, a 41-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, the force said, adding he and a woman who was in the car with him were taken to hospital with serious injuries

The male driver of the van remains in hospital and two children who were also in the van have since been discharged.

The road was closed while officers investigated the incident and spoke to witnesses.

Officers believe there may be more people with information or dashcam footage who have yet to come forward.

Det Con Liah Lane, of Nottinghamshire Police's serious collision investigation unit, said: "We would like to speak to anyone who was driving along New Mill Lane or surrounding roads around this time.

"They may have seen something, or have recorded footage from their vehicle, which could assist with our inquiries to discover exactly what happened.

"Likewise, any pedestrians in the area at the time who witnessed either of these vehicles in the moments before the incident should get in touch."
