Multiple arrests after man seriously injured

Five people have been arrested after a 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries during an incident in Ilkeston.

The man was "injured during an altercation between a large group of people" in Market Place at about 02:10 BST on Sunday.

A spokesperson for Derbyshire Police said he remains in a critical condition in hospital and appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Three men aged 24, 23 and 19, and two women aged 19 and 18 have been arrested and remain in custody.
