A teenage boy has appeared in court charged in connection with widespread disorder which took place in Leeds earlier this year.

Trouble flared in Harehills when hundreds of people gathered on the streets for several hours on 18 and 19 July.

The 15-year-old, from Harehills, appeared at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Tuesday charged with using or threatening unlawful violence during the disorder.

He was remanded on bail and is due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court for a plea hearing on 7 January 2025.

West Yorkshire Police said more than 40 arrests had so far been made following the disorder, with 15 people charged and five sentenced.
