Flash mobs planned for rock choir's charity single

A Surrey rock choir master said it was "very rewarding" to be able to support charities across the country as the group prepared for its Comic Relief events.
Farnham, Godalming and Guildford Rock Choir will be taking part in events across the county, singing a mix of contemporary hits including their new charity single, a cover of Somewhere Only We Know by Keane.
The choir is holding flash mobs in Woking, Redhill and Guildford on Saturday morning before heading to Manchester to perform the new single on Red Nose Day (21 March).
Tom George, choir master for the group, said it was a "busy, busy time" but that it was rewarding to be able to support both local and national charities.
Mr George added: "It's a lovely community. We all have this common love of singing and music and it's an hour and a half off from life to not think about the worries of the world.
"It's a busy time but it's very rewarding for us. We love to get out there and help where we can."
Originally formed in Farnham in 2005, Rock Choir now has groups across the UK with more than 30,000 members.
The group's new charity single, which they will perform on Red Nose Day, includes voices from across the UK recorded at recent performances.
In Surrey the group will be performing flash mobs in high streets in Woking, Redhill and Guildford at 11:00 GMT on Saturday to raise awareness and funds for Comic Relief.
The choir will also be performing in six shows on the week of 24 March to raise money for local charities.
The shows will fundraise for the charities Jigsaw, Challengers, the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, Cherry Trees, Charlie's Promise and the NHS Special Care Baby Unit at the Royal Surrey County Hospital.
