Event aims to support aspiring election candidates

An event will be held in Jersey for aspiring election candidates.

Organisers said current States members would host a panel discussion followed by a tour of the States Chamber.

"We're rapidly approaching the one year to go mark to the 2026 election and it's vital that candidates are informed and prepared for their campaigning," said campaign manager Emily Thomas.

Vote.je - the States of Jersey's official election guide - has set up the Plan to Stand event for Tuesday, 24 June at 18:00 BST at the States Building.

Jersey's next election is set to take place on Sunday 7 June 2026.

Those attending will learn about the procedural aspects of working as a States member and standing for election from the Greffier of the States Lisa Hart and the Deputy Greffier William Millow.

Ms Thomas said: "We want potential candidates to know that we're here to provide the information and advice that they need."
