Proposal to build warehouses on village fields
A bid to build three new warehouses on fields in a Leicestershire village has been submitted.
Developers want to turn land off Midland Road in Ellistown, near Coalville, into warehousing of up to 29,160 sq m of floorspace in total.
No tenants are in place yet for the scheme, but applicant Richborough said the development would create up to 374 jobs during construction and 590 roles when complete.
The "flexible" outline application has been submitted to North West Leicestershire District Council.
The development would also include landscaping, parking, service yards, footpaths and cycleways, and other infrastructure.
Planning documents say the proposed development, which would would "sit well within the existing commercial setting which is taking shape to the east of Ellistown".
Richborough has also submitted an application for 75 homes on the other side of Midland Road.
It said the proposals together "support the existing strong and cohesive community of Ellistown through additional housing and employment growth".
The council hopes to rule on the applications by April.
