'Phenomenal' giant gorilla sculpture almost ready

A giant gorilla sculpture made of iron is almost finished and already drawing crowds at a metal safari park in Shropshire.

The British Ironworks Centre near Oswestry said the project was almost complete and people had already marvelled at the huge creation.

Visitors commented on the "phenomenal" gorilla, which is roaring with a handcuffed arm in the air.

Posting on their Facebook page, the centre said it was proud of how the King Kong-like sculpture was progressing.

The centre's sculptures often have a serious message like Knife Angel, a 27ft-tall sculpture made from 100,000 blades created as a memorial to young knife-crime victims.

It's not yet known the meaning of the gorilla statue but its handcuffed arm is breaking free.

The Facebook post said: "So many people arriving to see this, but it's working progress - wait till you see this project completed.

"It's exceptional - so proud of how this is progressing."

One visitor of the park responded to say: "Fantastic again, what a place to visit, if you haven't been there you don't know what you're missing."
