Long delays are expected on the M23 due to a four-vehicle crash between Gatwick Airport and Crawley.

The southbound carriageway between junctions nine and ten was closed for roughly three hours following the crash, reported at about 10:30 GMT on Wednesday.

The road has since reopened but motorists have been told to expect long delays.

South East Coast Ambulance Service said four people were treated at the scene. Three were then taken to hospital for further checks.

National Highways said queues on the approach to junction nine were stretching for approximately two miles.
