Hospital changes parking payment system

Royal Surrey County Hospital is set to introduce a new parking payment system in May.
The hospital will start using use automatic number plate recognition to track how long vehicles stay for, starting from 8 May.
Visitors to the Guildford hospital will then pay for their parking with cash or by card at machines on site by entering their vehicle registration, or via an app.
Tom White, HR director at the hospital, said: "Patients and visitors will only pay for the time they actually spend at the hospital, without worrying about parking tickets running out."
New payment machines will be installed at the hospital's main entrance, the Cedar Centre, and the day surgery unit.
Additional locations are planned at a later date subject to user feedback, the hospital said.
It added that drivers can drop off and pick up passengers for up to 20 minutes without charge and free parking for blue badge holders and concessions will continue.
Changes at Royal Surrey County Hospital follow the announcement that parking facilities at Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey Heath will undergo improvement works.
