Man dies after crash with lorry near Clyde Tunnel

The crash happened on Balshagray Avenue in Glasgow

A 57-year-old man has died following a head-on crash with a lorry on Balshagray Avenue in Glasgow.

The crash, which involved a white Nissan Qashqai happened at about 13:50.

Emergency services attended and the male driver of the Qashqai was pronounced dead at the scene. His family has been informed.

The driver of the HGV, a 53-year-old man was taken to hospital as a precaution.

Balshagray Avenue was closed at Victoria Park Gardens South, along with Victoria Park Drive, northbound from the Clyde Tunnel, to allow an investigation to be carried out but was later reopened.

Sgt Christopher Hoggans said: "Our thoughts are with the deceased's family. Our inquires remain ongoing as we work to establish how this collision occurred.

"I would ask road users and members of the public who were in the area around the time of the incident to contact us with any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem.

"If you have any dashcam footage please check it and is could prove significant to our investigation."
