Cyclist seriously injured in hit-and-run crash

A cyclist is in hospital in a serious condition after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run in Birmingham.

The man in his 20s was injured in a crash involving a silver BMW on Brandwood Park Road at about 21:25 GMT on Friday, police said.

A 30-year-old man was later arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The West Midlands force urged anyone with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.

Police said they believed the vehicle involved to have been severely damaged.
