A woman in her 80s has been airlifted to hospital after suffering life-threatening injuries after a car collided with a stone wall in Wadebridge, police said.

A red Vauxhall Corsa and a white Nissan van collided at Wadebridge Medical Centre, at the exit on to Jubilee Road, Wadebridge, at around 14:55 GMT on Tuesday.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the Vauxhall struck the parked and unattended van in the car park and then collided with a stone wall at the exit of the car park at Jubilee Road.

The woman was in the front passenger seat while the driver, a local man in his 80s, was taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries, said the force.

The road was reopened around 21:00 GMT after Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team investigated.

Police want to hear from witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage.
