A child has been taken to hospital after being involved in a collision with a quad bike in a residential street.

Essex Police said the bike, which was being ridden by three people, failed to stop after the incident on Aydon Close in Wickford.

It happened just after 15:00 GMT and the child was treated in hospital for a leg injury.

The youngster had been riding their scooter on the pavement when a quad bike left a nearby field and crashed, police added.

Witnesses said it was ridden off towards the town centre.

The quad bike is described as red with a black cage on the front and police are appealing for witnesses or footage.
