Guernsey's specialist palliative care team has launched a new guide aimed at helping islanders navigate the challenges of a life-limiting illness.

The guide offers practical advice on care options, benefit entitlements and making a will, among other things, and is tailored specifically to the needs of the local community, the team said.

The team, which is primarily based at Les Bourgs Hospice and includes specialist nurses, a specialist occupational therapist and a palliative care social worker, supports people with a range of incurable conditions and can provide care at home.

Nurse Catherine Whetstone said: "We understand that discussing death and dying can feel scary but planning ahead allows people to share their wishes and live as well as possible for as long as possible."
