Two 13-year-old boys were arrested after reports of intruders at a high school in Devon.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to Tiverton High School at 13:45 GMT on Thursday after they received reports of two young people who were not pupils on school grounds.

Police said two boys were arrested on suspicion of public nuisance offences at the school site.

Officers added the two were further arrested for suspected theft and assault but said this was not in relation to the incident at the school.

The teenagers remain in police custody.

Insp Mark Arthurs said he hoped the arrests would "reassure the community of Tiverton that we take anti-social behaviour seriously".

He added that such behaviour would "not be tolerated".
