Firefighters rescue trapped horses after crash
Firefighters were called to rescue two horses trapped inside a horse box after it collided with a fallen tree.
Crews from Tavistock and Yelverton fire stations were involved in the rescue in the village of Mary Tavy on Tuesday.
A spokesperson for the Tavistock fire crew said the horses had a "lucky escape" and had been released from the vehicle "uninjured".
In a separate incident, fire crews attended reports of a small, elderly dog which had fallen into the River Tavy at about 08:50 GMT on Monday.
"Crews donned water rescue and safety equipment before entering the river and bringing the dog back to dry land uninjured," the fire service spokesperson said.
"Whilst it is difficult to resist the temptation to try and get into the river to help in these circumstances, we would strongly advise against anyone getting into any river due the risk of cold water shock or being swept away by currents."
