Plans have been resubmitted to East Suffolk Council to build retirement homes at the former Royal British Region site

Plans have been resubmitted for new retirement apartments on a former Royal British Legion site after a council delayed its decision over the project.

Churchill Retirement Living put forward plans to East Suffolk Council to build 58 apartments at the site in Felixstowe, Suffolk, which were discussed by the authority last month.

The authority delayed its decision after concerns were raised by residents over the lack of parking provided.

The company said: "Offering older people a better choice of accommodation would help them live independently for longer, feel more connected to their communities, and reduce costs to the social care and health systems."

New plans were submitted to the council, which included an additional four car parking spaces.

Council planning officers said the 29 spaces now provided was "significantly higher than the predicted demand".

Suffolk County Council's highways department did not object to the proposals.

Churchill Retirement Living estimated the development could generate £449,000 in spending in local shops and services, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service
