A field shelter has been blown on to a road in Kent as the county deals with the impact of Storm Darragh.

On Sunday, the shelter - a structure usually used to provide cover for animals - was spotted in Lower Street, Tilmanstone, near Deal.

Kent County Council said the road had been shut and the shelter stable. It added that the owner was arranging for a contractor to remove it.

A council spokesperson said: "There have been a number of roads closed due to trees hanging across cables and, until the winds allow for safe working at height, the trees cannot be cut down."

Any trees tangled within electric cables were reported to EDF for their contractors to attend, the authority explained.

The AA said Faversham Road, near Charing, had also been shut in both directions from Monkery Lane to Stalisfield Road because of a fallen tree.
