Man jailed for puncturing friend's lung with knife
A man who stabbed his friend in the chest and punctured his lung after an argument has been jailed for 12 years and three months.
Brandon Oakley, 24, carried out the attack with a kitchen knife after getting into an argument at one address and then confronting his victim at a flat in Central Avenue, Dogsthorpe, Peterborough on 24 October.
The man was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and Oakley was arrested later that day, Cambridgeshire Police said.
The force said Oakley fled the scene, but the incident was captured on CCTV.
Oakley, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to possession of a knife and grievous bodily harm with intent in November, and appeared for sentencing at Cambridge Crown Court.
The initial confrontation happened on Eastfield Road in Peterborough and police said Oakley then turned up at the other address and "began shouting and banging on the door" before another argument broke out.
Det Con Angus Cashman said: "This was a completely disproportionate response to an argument which escalated and resulted in a man nearly losing his life.
"I would urge anyone with concerns about someone who may carry a weapon to report it to us."
