Two men have died following a crash involving a lorry and a van in Lincolnshire, police have confirmed.

The vehicles collided on the A17 between Brant Broughton and Leadenham just after 07:00 GMT on Friday.

The white Ford Transit was travelling towards Newark and the tanker was heading towards Sleaford when they came into contact.

The driver of the lorry, a 68-year-old man, and the driver of the van, a 23-year-old man, were both pronounced dead at the scene, Lincolnshire Police said.

The force said both drivers' families have been informed and are being supported by specially-trained officers.

Both vehicles had no passengers and no other vehicles are believed to have been involved.

The road is closed in both directions while investigations continue but is expected to reopen later. People have been asked to avoid the area.

Police have appealed for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to get in touch.
