A woman has been found dead after a man was seen trying to force his way into a flat in Hammersmith.

The 36-year-old woman was discovered with a head injury in the flat in Coulter Road just before 22:15 GMT on Sunday, the Metropolitan Police said.

Officers are trying to trace the woman's family, who have not yet been told.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

It is believed the man and woman were known to each other.

A Met spokesperson said the force was "saddened to hear about the loss of this young woman".

They added that "although an arrest has been made, we still need to have an understanding of what took place last night" and anyone with information should contact them.
