A dog grooming salon will be allowed to open next to a cat cafe despite the latter's owner worrying about the disruption it might bring.

The Barks'n'Bubbles salon will open in Winchester Street in Andover, Hampshire, despite concerns about "agitated dogs making a lot of noise".

Stuart Waue, who owns Andover Catfe, previously told Test Valley Borough Council that he worried it could jeopardise its "calming atmosphere".

Amber Evans, who will run the dog grooming salon, received permission from the authority.

She previously said clients would visit on an appointment-only basis and there would be a waiting area inside the salon, minimising disruption in Winchester Street and to the cat cafe.

The council said it received three objections to the business opening but 42 letters of support.

Test Valley officers said it would fill a vacant town centre unit, previously used as a nail salon, and councillors approved the proposal on 20 February.

Mrs Evans did not want to comment when approached by the BBC.
