Drugs and cash have been seized by police as part of an operation to tackle drug dealers in Plymouth.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man in Whitleigh on 27 February on suspicion of importing class B drug cannabis.

They seized 1.6kg of cannabis, half an ounce of cocaine and nearly £4,000 in cash as part of the operation.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the negative impact of drugs was a "key concern for local people" and efforts were being made to to stop their flow into communities.

'Keep people safe'

Police Sergeant Andrew Luff said: "I want this work to send a message, both to people looking to commit drug offences and to the general public, that we are strengthening our response to drug supply in the city.

He added: "If you know something or have seen something, it's vital you report it to us.

"No matter how small or insignificant you may think your information is, it might just be that missing piece of information we need to secure a warrant, search or arrest."

The arrested man was released on bail while the investigation continues.
