Town council in pump track crowdfunding campaign

Plans for a pump cycle track in a Shropshire town have taken a step closer.
Ellesmere Town Council has launched a crowdfunding campaign aimed at building the track at Berwyn View.
The project, it said, was designed to provide a safe and fun environment for riders of all ages and skill levels, and to promote active lifestyles, enhance community engagement, and support local youth.
It will feature a series of landscaping features - rollers, berms, and jumps - allowing cyclists, skateboarders and scooter riders to build skills and have fun in a controlled setting.
"We believe that a pump track will greatly benefit our community by providing a place for kids and adults to enjoy outdoor activities, connect with one another, and stay active," said Paul Goulbourne, chairman of the Land at Berwyn View working group.
"This is an exciting opportunity for us all to come together and invest in our community's future."
Mayor Graham Hutchinson added: "Our youngsters here in Ellesmere have long expressed their desire for just such an amenity and I know that our residents will support the project wholeheartedly so that it will be in operation by summer this year."
The crowdfunding campaign aims to raise £71,000 to cover costs of construction, maintenance, and safety features.
Ellesmere Town Council has encouraged people to spread the word and join in fundraising events.
