An interactive inflatable whale will be touring parts of Lincolnshire to help children learn about the ocean and how to protect it.

The installation, called The Whale – Plastic Ocean, will visit Grantham, Bourne, Stamford and the Deepings in March and May.

Once inside the 18m-long (59ft) sperm whale, children will be taught about the impact of plastic on the environment by taking part in missions and watching performances.

Councillor Paul Stokes said: "It will be a fantastic opportunity for residents to connect with the ocean, enjoy a talented theatre performance and learn more about the ways we can all protect one of our most valuable natural resources."

There will be puppet and comedy shows, as well as performances from female theatre company Circo Rum Ba Ba and an acrobatic diver.

People aged three and above will be able to step inside the belly of the inflatable sperm whale, where they will watch a performance involving a mission to save an ancient leatherback turtle.
