Man arrested after cyclist dies in crash

A driver has been arrested after a cyclist died following a crash in Devon, police said.

Devon and Cornwall Police were called to Southfield Avenue in Paignton at about 19:00 GMT on Wednesday after a crash involving a bike and a van.

The force said a man in his 60s died as a result of his injuries.

It said a man in his 70s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at a collision and remained in police custody.

The road was closed while an investigation was carried out, it added.

Police have asked anybody with information to get in touch.
