A 70-year-old woman who died in a hit-and-run incident in Renfrewshire on New Year's Eve has been named.

Elizabeth Kennedy, from Paisley, was struck by a white car on the town's Barrhead Road near the junction with Ladykirk Crescent and died at the scene at about 19:00.

The driver fled and detectives have appealed for information to help trace them.

Detective Inspector Jan MacColl said: "Our thoughts are with Elizabeth's family, friends and everyone affected by this tragic incident.

"Officers will continue to support her family as our enquiries progress."

She urged anyone with information to contact police.
