Woman arrested after man's body found in river

A woman has been arrested after the body of a 19-year-old man was recovered from the River Ouse in York city centre.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 02:50 BST after reports two people had entered the river.
A rescue operation was launched by police, the fire service and York Rescue Boat, and the man's body was discovered at about 08:30 BST, according to North Yorkshire Police.
A 19-year-old woman, who was also seen to enter the water with the man, had been arrested on suspicion of assault and remained in custody, a force spokesperson said.
Ch Insp Jon Aldred said: "While formal identification is yet to take place, the man's family have been informed. My thoughts go out to them at this very sad time.
"Our inquiries are continuing in order to establish the full circumstances.
"This tragic incident serves as a stark reminder of the hidden dangers of open water."
