Armed police sent to reports of man with firearm

Armed officers have been deployed after a report of a man with a suspected firearm.

East Staffordshire Police said they were called to Stanton Road, in Stapenhill near Burton-upon-Trent, at about 14:50 BST on Monday.

Officers were negotiating with a man inside a building, police said on Facebook shortly after 19:30 BST.

The post stated that officers did not believe there was any immediate risk to the public, but they advised people to stay away from the area and added that parts of the road had been closed.
