Part of a major route connecting the Manx capital with the north of the island has been reopened after being closed due to ice following a hail shower overnight.

The Isle of Man Constabulary had closed the A18 Mountain Road from Ramsey Hairpin to the Bungalow shortly before 06:00 GMT because of the conditions.

The road was reopened at 10:25, however the force urged motorists to "drive to the conditions".

Police also warned of delays on the Ramsey to Laxey Coast Road after a crash in the area of the Dhoon Tram Stop during rush hour.

The Department of Infrastructure said a planned road closure for tree felling on Whitebridge Road in Onchan had been pushed back to 11:00 GMT as a result of the disruption.

Those restrictions will now be in place until 14:00.
