All remaining routes leading to the Isle of Man's Mountain Road closed due to snow drifts have been cleared.

The Department of Infrastructure has now reopened the Ben-y-Phott Road, which was closed in early January due to "significant" snowfall on higher ground.

The Tholt-y-Will Road reopened on Monday, however a planned daytime closure for carriageway works was extended until 22:00 GMT after a landslip destabilised a tree.

The Mountain Road was reopened on 10 January after it had been closed for six days due to the conditions.

On Tuesday, the Department of Infrastructure said a tree was threatening to come down on the Tholt-y-Will Road at the lower end of Sulby valley, and the route would be closed while it was felled "on safety grounds".

Daytime closures have been put in place on the road from Monday to Saturday between 09:00 to 15:30 GMT for planned carriageway construction works at Sulby Glen.

The five-week-long works, which had been due to start on 6 January, are being carried out by contractors Paul Carey and Sons.

The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said outside of working hours the road would be open to through traffic.

The works, which are adjacent to the Sulby water treatment plant, also include the construction of a roadside retaining wall, with the scheme being undertaken following a landslip, which the DOI said had "weakened and damaged" the edge of the carriageway.

Access to houses above the waterworks and the reservoir would be available via the Mountain Road during the closures, the DOI said.
