A man has been charged with dangerous driving and fraud after police rammed an electric car to stop it after reports its brakes had failed on the M62.

Nathan Owen also faces a charge of causing a public nuisance after the black Jaguar I-Pace was brought to a stop on the afternoon of 6 March 2024.

Merseyside Police said the car was escorted on to the eastbound carriage of the motorway and brought to a stop between Junction 11 for Birchwood and 12 for Eccles.

Mr Owen, of The Grove in Prestatyn, Denbighshire, is due to make a first appearance in court on 13 August.

In the aftermath of the incident, Jaguar Land Rover said it had launched an investigation.
