Four months of work to improve a road in Lincoln has begun.

Carholme Road will be resurfaced and have its drainage, kerbs and footpaths upgraded.

The work will be carried out in four phases and there will be some overnight closures, Lincolnshire County Council said.

Diversions will be set up during some of the work.

Michael Cheyne, the council's executive member for highways, said: "Doing this work now will stop this infrastructure getting any worse and will mean less disruption for Lincoln in the future."

The council said advance warning of any road closures would be publicised at the scene at least two weeks in advance.
