Scheme saving tonnes of e-waste from landfill

An e-waste recycling centre is helping to save unwanted electrical items from going to landfill.

Enva, based in Spittlegate Level, Grantham, recycles residents' unwanted electricals, such as household appliances, unused tech and spare cables.

Electrical items contain a range of materials that can be separated for recycling and used in new products, such as plastics and precious metals, including gold, steel and copper.

Jon Parsons, chief financial officer at Enva, said the excavation and refining of new raw materials is "hugely energy intensive".

He added: "If we can separate that copper, we can put that almost directly back into manufacturing."
