A man has been arrested after a van smashed through a brick wall and crashed into a house.

The white Ford Transit crashed into the front of the detached house on Cock Lane in Broomhall near Nantwich, Cheshire, at about 23:45 BST on Tuesday.

The van flipped on to its side and the driver had got out before emergency services arrived, a spokesperson for Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said.

There were no serious injuries, Cheshire Police added, but the driver of the van, a 36-year-old man from Nantwich, was taken to hospital as a precaution.

He was later arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and remained in custody, a force spokesperson said.
